February 2010

Training sessions at home and with Sue

I stayed at Sue's in York for 3 days and had 6 lessons!Q I was very tired by the end but made good progress.

Ali making a kur for me and Trev– should be ready for test riding during w/c 15th Feb. Have already done floor patterns, timing, videoed, found music and its nearly ready to go! Kur was ready for Ireland but did not get chance to try it out as needed to concentrate on Indi – Ind'is kur needs to take account of the new moves in the FEI test – will alter this in March

Test riding day at Wakefield RDA with Sarah Rodger - 14th Feb

My session with Sarah was really good – her opinion is that we use Indi more for training as the schoolmaster and I concentrate on Trevor at the comps. She suggested using a metronome to help me keep the same rhythm round courners as I tend to slow down when riding Trev.

Training at Spruce Lodge, 24-28th Feb

Spruce Lodge was an excellent training camp with Donie Mac and with Carolyn Gardiner, and I know I have a lot of work to do on the new tests. It is hard riding two horses for 4 consecutive days and the first time that Trev has travelled abroad. I gave it my best shot, worked hard and listened to all the advice and suggestions made.

Indi's saddle will be changed as soon as I return home and then hopefully I will not fall to the right as much on Indi. The grade III tests have been set at medium level and I need to concentrate on improving shoulder in, and turn on the haunches in particular.
