There will be four regional competitions and the four riders with the highest percentages overall in each grade will qualify for the final BD National Championships (Grade I will be split between 1a and 1b).

All riders must be a minimum of 14 years old and qualify with a minimum score of 60%. If the numbers qualified for any grade fall below four, wildcards will be issued to the next highest qualifying percentage over the remaining grades.

Should there be a space in the KBIS class the rider with the next highest percentage from across all qualifiers, regardless of grade, will be invited to compete.

The maximum number of riders competing in the Championships is 20. The competition is for International and future International riders. It is the rider who qualifies and the horse may be substituted.

The qualifiers are open to all riders with IPEC/RDA classification cards. Riders at Championships must be members of British Dressage.

In the event of a rider being unable to compete at the Championships, BD must be notified a week prior to the close of entries, the next highest percentage will qualify.

RDA National Championships 2008 (UK)

RDA

The 2008 RDA National Championships took place on 12 and 13 July at Hartpury College, Gloucestershire. Regional qualifiers take place around the UK. If you would like to compete next year, contact your local group or Kay Woodcock at RDA HQ for more information (tel 0845 658 1082).

This is great place to start competing if you are new to para dressage. You will need to qualify at your regional RDA competition.

There are lots of other activities as well as dressage and it's also a great social event where you can meet other riders from around the country.

Millfield Young Rider and Junior Para Dressage International

Millfield School in Somerset hosted Britain’s first junior para dressage international in July 2005. In 2006, this international competition included a young rider section and in 2007 also had classes for under 14s.

Riders can compete as juniors if they are aged 15-18, and in young riders if aged 18-21. To qualify, riders must be able to score more than 60% in affiliated or unaffiliated dressage classes or in para dressage competitions.

This year , Millfiled Junior International took place on 4 - 6 July 2008 .
Contact Mandy Heath for more information.
